Hi, My my new MC6 i i find im having press switches more than once quite a lot which is a no no for gigs has anybody else had trouble?

The problem you are having is this. The MC6 has no knowledge of the Stomp’s initial state. In essence this is what Collin is alluding to.

Unrelated to the Stomp but by way of example. Imagine you had a light switch that could be controlled using the MC6 by sending CC #3 on channel 1 with values 0=Off and 127=On. And again, that as with the Stomp, the MC6 has no knowledge of the light switch’s initial state. In other words the MC6 doesn’t know if the light is on or off.

So you set up a preset on the MC6 that toggles between sending Msg 1 (CC#5 value=127) and Msg 2 (CC#5 value=0). The first message turns the light On and the second turns the light Off.

So if the light is Off and the first time you press the MC6 button it will turn the light on. Because the first message sent CC#5 value=127.

But if the light is On, the first time you press the MC6 button nothing will happen. This is because again the first message sent is CC#5 value=127 which tells the light switch to turn on the light. And the light switch obeys the command and turns the light on. But since the light is already on you perceive this as nothing happening.

In other words to have the MC6 preset and the light switch work in the way you want, you have to make sure that the initial state of the switch is the opposite of the first CC message you are sending. Which in this case would be Off.

And the same criteria exist with the Stomp. The simplest way of confirming this is to take a MC6 preset you are having the problem with and reverse the state of the Stomp block, i.e. if it’s on turn it off and vice versa, and then see what happens.

One other small detail, the only time you will have to double press a switch if nothing happens is the first time. After that the shared state between the MC6 and the Stomp will be in sync. One caveat, all bets are off if you are using snapshots and haven’t used Snapshot Bypass for the block you are controlling.
