Any ideas why a Timeline would not sync to the Midi clock tempo from the MC6? If the MC6 is set to 75, my Timeline jumps to 100 bpm...and whatever I tap on the MC6 the Timeline is always faster BPM wise.
I sent an email to Strymon regarding this and they replied that this is a bug/feature with the Nixie v.177 firmware. They indicated that this may be fixed in the next firmware.
I have downgraded to v1.58 and now BPM is displaying correctly on the Timeline regardless of tap sub-division.
lrichards2117, what is the version of your firmware in the Timeline?
Higher BPMs: looks like this is how Timeline interprets time, I've tested this with the MC6 and a friend's Selah Quartz v1. Timeline apparently multiplies the incoming BPM with the tap sub-division. If you're on dotted eight, sending 124BPM will display as 1.333 * 124BPM = 166BPM (must've been rounded up by Timeline).
Global tap tempo: I did a factory reset on my Timeline and now global tap is carrying through the inputted BPM. The problem is, once you exit from MC6 tempo preset, Timeline will carry through the multiplied BPM regardless of preset sub-division. So 124BPM into a dotted eighth becomes 166BPM. Going into a quarter note preset (after you exit tempo preset on MC6), Timeline will run at 166BPM.
A trick I've done now is whenever I'm inputting a tempo, I switch to a quarter note preset to ensure the correct absolute BPM is inputted, then I go about selecting the delay preset I need for the song.
So, James/Morningstar, please investigate turning the MC6 into a persistent MIDI clock generator, so tempo is still being sent after you exit a tempo preset. Will post this in Suggestions.
Thanks for the response. I should've mentioned that global tempo is on, but Timeline still decides to follow preset tempo as if no taps were registered or no tempo was programmed in. Please note that if I tap on the Timeline, the global tempo works as expected, just not when tempo is sent from MC6.
Can you please try if you can replicate Timeline displaying a different BPM? I'll do some more testing but I'm close to doing a factory reset on the Timeline to see if that'll fix it.
The Timeline internal clock will sync with the tempo received via Midi Clock, and then the sub-division will work based on that tempo.
It is a preset setting on the Timeline on whether the preset uses its own tempo or the global tempo. Do take a look at the Timeline manual for more information.
Hi James, related to this topic and apologies to lrichards2117 if this amounts to derailing/hijacking.
I've also noticed that Timeline displays a faster tempo when I program the tempo using the MC6. But I'm suspecting this is due to the dotted eighth sub-division setting I have on the Timeline. Quickly dividing the two numbers gave me 0.75.
Question 1: is it possible to synchronise these two numbers so Timeline displays the same tempo regardless of the sub-division setting? Or is this more of a Timeline firmware issue?
Question 2: after a tempo is programmed into the Timeline, upon selecting another preset, Timeline doesn't remember the previously programmed tempo. Is this because the MC6 is not a persistent MIDI clock generator?
Question 3: if that is the case, are you still looking into this for the v2.6 firmware as mentioned elsewhere on this forum?
If my MC 6 is set up with M1 MidiClk Tap 1:0 0:0 Ch.1 and my Timeline is set to Midi channel 1, Midiclock receiving is turned on....I still get a +20ish bpm difference on the Timeline.
Reporting back.

I see. What version is your Timeline on? Also, what firmware version are you using? We'll do some tests early next week.
Updating the firmware did not fix the problem.

I will try that and let you know!
Could you try updating to v2.4.2 and see if that helps?
I have not used it on anything else...but I am running the 2.4.1
Hi!
That's odd. Did you manage to test it with other devices? Also, which firmware are you using?
