I tried Midi Clock message but in this mode you have to enter Midi Clock menu and see it on the screen and you need to tap with A preset. Otherwise I can only send what I adjusted on Midi Clock message initially (120bpm e.g.) Can you please let me know if I'm missing something?
What I want is to buy an MXR M199 Mini Tap Tempo switch and send tempo signal whenever I want. This is very useful on rehearsals.
On the other hand I tried "Tap Footswitch" CC message for both Timeline and Mobius. The latency is still there.
How are you connecting your devices together? Is it via a MIDI splitter or are the devices chained? Generally, there would be factors affecting the timings of the CC message being sent out. If the devices are MIDI chained, there might be a lag that occurs when one device (e.g. Timeline) receives the input message and when it sends it out to the next devices via MID thru.
Try this:
Set all your devices to the same channel i..e Channel 1. Use only 1 message from the MC6 to control the Tap Tempo (only need 1 message since the devices are all in the same channel and the remote tap has the same CC number). Does it solve it?
I would recommend using the Midi clock message for this, where you can be certain that the BPMs between devices would be accurate.
