Hi all,
Just received my MC6 over the holidays, and super impressed with all the form and functionality of this product. Coming from a DMC unit, there’s a lot of custom options, which I am quite excited to explore.
TL;DR:
I am trying to setup my first bank as a series of ‘go to’s’. I am able to enable the patches on my devices when I step on the configured MC6 preset, however I am uncertain how to turn all of them off by stepping on the same preset.
I have successfully set up my three devices I intend to use the MC6 for, and they all are able to receive midi as individual presets. I am having some problem trying to understand how turn all the devices off when I disable the preset - I am certain the answer is right in front of me, however I am somehow missing it.
My chain looks like this: MC6 -> empress midi box -> out to empress echosystem -> midi box midi through -> H9 -> GFI Specular Tempus.
The echo system is on channel 1; the H9 is channel 4 and the GFI is channel 15.
As a screen shot won’t show all the info, I am hand jamming it below in case I am missing something very obvious:
Bank 1 / Preset A :
Msg 1:
Action “Press”
Type “Program Change” PC: 1 Channel: 1
Msg 2:
Action “Press”
Action “Set Toggle”
Msg 3:
Action: “Press”
Type: “Program Change: PC: 60 Channel: 4
When I hit Bank 1/Preset A, I get the correct preset on each device. By default the GFI and H9 enable the patch, so I don’t need to send a CC for that.
Any tips on how to configure this preset so when I step on it the second time, all the patches configured turn off? I have tried adding long press with the corresponding CC number for disengage for each unit in hopes that it was that easy, but that doesn’t seem to be the correct way to do it.
Thanks!
Brent
A Long Press to disengage would work. But if you use a Long Press, then your initial Press values should be changed to "Release" instead, because a Long Press would trigger a Press as well.
What is Msg2 for? You could also use the toggle function to toggle between CC values to engage and bypass the units.
