Recently received my MC6 MkII and am absolutely loving it.
I've programmed three presets (A, B, C) to send Midi Notes in Toggle Mode. Pos1 is Note On, Pos2 is Note Off. I'm able to switch a chord on and off without issue. I'd like to program a Set Toggle "Clear" to each switch so that the following occurs...
Engaging Preset A clears the toggle state of B&C
Engaging Preset B clears the toggle state of A&C
Engaging Preset C clears the toggle state of A&B
I have tried programming the Set Toggle message in every possible way I can think up, even assigning it to a totally separate foot switch, and cannot achieve this effect.
Help?
I appreciate this is an old thread and many may have moved on however the solution would be to send an ‘off’ state PC message to each of the midi devices when switching patches. This can also be done as a secondary function of each patch.
Thank you so much for taking the time to spell all of that out. This application with PC's as opposed to CC's makes total sense!
I might be getting into feature request territory with this, but I'll continue the thread here anyways.
What I was hoping for was a way to program chords via several Midi Note #'s into each switch and be able to change chords seamlessly without having to program Note Off messages into all the other switches. Ex. (obviously these midi note numbers are nonsense, but I think you'll get the picture)
A - Pos 1 / Note On #01 #02 #03 [Note Off #04 #05 #06 #07 #08 #09] () Pos 2 / Note Off #01 #02 #03
B - Pos 1 / Note On #04 #05 #06 [Note Off #01 #02 #03 #07 #08 #09] () Pos 2 / Note Off #04 #05 #06
C - Pos 1 / Note On #07 #08 #09 [Note Off #01 #02 #03 #04 #05 #06] () Pos 2 / Note Off #07 #08 #09
Obviously, this method will work, but it limits polyphony and takes a lot of time to program. Thoughts? Ultimately, I guess I could just change this to a Press = Note On / Release = Note Off situation, I was just hoping not to have to stand on the switch for long passages. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
It will not engage A&B but just change the toggle position of A&B to either 1 or 2 (depending if you chose Set or Clear.
The purpose for this function is this:
You can set up your bank with presets that all sends PCs messages, along with a clear toggle message which clears all other presets except its own. Also program the presets with Toggle On and Blink On. This will allow you to have only the last engaged preset blinking. When you step on another preset (eg preset A), it will clear the toggle position for all other presets (which will stop blinking) and only preset A will be blinking. When you step on preset B, preset A will stop blinking while preset B will start blinking. This will give a view on which preset is "active".
Of course, it is entirely up to the user on how they want to program it.
Thanks for the clarification. That said, if (in your example) there is a message associated with A&B toggle position 1, shouldn't the clear toggle on Preset C engage that message?
Maybe you could give a practical example of how Set Toggle is meant to be used if I'm still misunderstanding it's purpose.
Set toggle does not engage the presets such that it sends messages from the different presets, but rather it changes the position of the toggle for the selected presets.
For example,
Preset A and B is in toggle position 2 (blinking). Preset C is programmed to clear toggle for A & B. Once preset C is engaged, A & B changes toggle position to 1.
Exiting editor mode allows me to use the switch, but the only affect it has on the assigned presets (ex. Clear PresetA & PresetB) is that when pressed it changes the blink status, but not the midi message being sent.
Just to make sure I'm understanding the purpose of the Set Toggle function. I've been working under the assumption that (in a simpler example than my midi-notes) it's meant to function like so:
Preset A assigned to toggle On/Off state of a pedal
Preset B assigned to toggle On/Off state of a pedal
Preset C assigned to Set Toggle (Clear) to toggle both Preset A & B Off / Preset C assigned to Set Toggle (Set) to toggle both Preset A & B On
Right?
While testing it, did you toggle out of editor mode? Do note that while the device is in editor mode, a number of features are disabled to help editing, including the set toggle feature.
I've updated to 3.1.0 and still can't get the Set Toggle message to work.
Hi Andrew!
There was a bug fix for this in firmware 3.1.0, could you try updating your firmware and let us know if you continue to face issues?
