Hi, James, I am trying to power MC6 with AC adaptor for AXE FX2 connected to the phantom power jack in the back of AXE FX. Will Morningstar be ok receiving AC power from midi cable? I will be using 9~12v AC adaptor plugged in to Axe fx and 7 pin midi cable to morningstar mc 6.
Regards,
Jae
The only thing that you need to watch out is the amp going through Axe FX2, in the manual it says don't use anything over 1AMP through AXE FX2. Also I heard it doesn't have to be AC adaptor, it could also be DC adaptor, however you would need a convertor plug, 2.5 mm to 2.1mm if you want to use DC adaptor, which is much more common in guitar FX.
As long as it is the correct voltage, mA doesn't matter, as long as it is above the requirements of a device. This is why you can use a 9V Strymon power brick (typically 400 mA or so) with any 9V pedal, but not the other way around.
I'm doing the same thing here and wondering if a 1000 mA power supply is okay to use with the MC6? it will be plugged in the back of the Axe FX. I think i read somewhere the MC6 needs only around 80 mA
Hi Jae, yes the MC6 can take in phantom power (AC and DC) from pins 6&7.
