I have both the MC6 MK I and the MK II. I power the MKII from its USB connection.
If I connect the MK I MIDI Output connector to the MK II MIDI Input connector with a 7-pin MIDI cable, will that power the MK I?
So my question comes down to: Can the MK II provide MIDI phantom power to another device?
(All I have is a 5-pin MIDI cable now, so I can't just try it.)
Ah, understood.
The device I'll be connecting the two MC6 controllers to is the MIDX-20. Unfortunately, it's just 5-pin MIDI I/O. To supply power via a 5-pin to 7-pin MIDI cable such as the following:

The idea is to feed power and signals with the same cable, avoiding a wall-wart plug going out to the MC6s.
I'd want to use the same power supply that feeds the MIDX-20 and GP-10 (a 9V "Boss" type). Milliamp capability is plenty more than total the devices would draw. Take a tap from that supply to feed the power plug input of the 5-pin to 7-pin cable.
Potential problems I can think of: the 9Vdc supply voltage, which the MIDI power inputs of the MC6 would have to tolerate. I'd hope the polarity would be correct, or maybe the MC6 MIDI power pins can tolerate either polarity?
