Hi,
After owning the Mc6 for a few months, I've finally gotten around to re-configuring my pedal board
My intention was to set up my midi cables like this
Disaster Area Smartclock (supplying Midi Clock) > MC6 > Midi Solutions Quadra Thru (1 in 4 out midi splitter).
From there split the signal out to the following pieces.
- Soundsculpture Switchblade 8f
- Digitech Whammy 5
- Boss DD500 Delay
- Line 6 M9
However no midi seems to pass through the midi splitter? I've tested that the cables work, and plugging the Smartclock straight into the splitter seems to work fine for passing midi clock to other device.
Anyone else spltting midi using a 'splitter' after the mc6? If so what do you use?
Cheers.
Hi Alex,
Sorry I never replied. As a work around, I ended up running MC6 > Switchblade 8f > Digitech Whammy 5 for the moment, and run the Smartclock > Quadra Thru > ( Boss DD500 Delay / Line 6 M9 / Boomerang 3 > Boss Slicer), as well as a second Quadra Thru > (Boss RC-505 / Boss DB-90 click). This works fine for the moment as the 8F patches do most of the tricky changing, and I was used to manually switching the DD500 and M9 from the previous setup (Providence PEC-2)
I've had pretty steady gigs since the last rebuild so haven't had the chance to progress any further. It looks like I'll be ordering a Line 6 HX effects soon to replace the M9 so hopefully I'll be able to get the next pedalboard revision running a little bit smarter.
I'll likely end up with one of the midi merge boxes as I'm hesitant to run anything into the smartclock itself ( It sets tempo for ALL of our bands rig, and even a slight glitch will cause things to start going out of time) I'll also get a powered midi splitter like this.

Will come back and update when I've made some more progress!

Hi Bradley,
I may have missed the obvious, but I think you want to put the MIDI clock after the MC6, not before it. There may be a passive way to pass MIDI through the MC6, but I wouldn't want to stress the processor if it's passing master tempo while processing commands. I have no reason to think it would be a problem, but in the interests of keeping it simple, I'd go MIDI merge on the MIDI solutions boxes (I have a quadra also but I don't think it would work). Essentially, you have 2 MIDI sources (one for clock and one for commands), whcih you want to incorporate into the chain.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, so let me know what you find.
Best always,
Alex
