Anyone else using both the MC6 and the ML5?
I received my ML5 a couple of days ago. Very excitedly got it all set up.
But... the big issue I find is that when I click from say low gain OD to high gain OD (same mild OD pedal and turning on a different OD pedal to stack into it), there's a very noticeable 'fade' out of the old signal and a fade in of the new signal.
As though it drops to silence and back again.
It feels like it takes half a second to do it, though it's probably quicker.
But the big issue is the fact the audio really drops out and in.
If it took half a second for the second pedal/setting to kick in, you can time it. But the audio drop is quite painful.
Is there any way around this, does anyone know?
Thanks!
James, I think it's an issue with MIDI channels. The Ventris is channel 1, and I can't seem to write to the ML5 if I have it on any channel other than 1. So I need to get the board connected up to the laptop to change the Ventris MIDI channel to see if that solves it.
In short, I am guessing both the Ventris and the ML5 are trying to do what is being sent to channel 1.
Another question, though:
Is there a CC# for the ML5 to toggle each loop on and off?
It would be nice to have a page on my MC6 that has a switch per loop, so that I can toggle gain one on and off with switch A, gain two on and off with switch B (etc), rather than having to set up 'Loop E on switch one', 'Loop E & B on switch two' etc.
Thus like 'manual mode' on most switchers; manual control of each loop.
No problem!
I didn't quite understand what you described. If you send different PC messages to the ML5, are you not able to call out your presets? What is your rig set-up like?
Yes!! Thank you thank you! That has made all the difference!
I encountered another issue tonight when setting loops on/off for different patches.
I found I might set A on for switch A, A and D for switch B and A and C for switch C.
But then when try each switch, switch A and C are doing the same thing (just loop A).
I was editing in the pedal and I found it had something to do with PCs for the Ventris, and if I used the same patch for the Ventris, the loop settings would be the same.
Does a patch need to have a PC set to be about to signas loops? Is there a generic PC you can use for loops?
Sorry if this is in the manual .I'll go hunt that down now.
Hi there!
You can set the ML5 to disable the fade ins. The audio fading was added to help with the pop for some devices (esp those that uses charge pumps).
TLDR: Hold down Switch D before powering up. Release. The loops with audio fade applied to will engage. Select the loops you want to apply the audio fading to. Press learn to save.
Taken from the manual:
MUTED SWITCHING The ML5 circuit is designed to keep switching noise to a bare minimum. However, you may have certain devices that are more prone to switching noise, such as devices that use an internal charge pump. The ML5 has a muted switching function for pedals that may produce noise or a pop sound when engaged/disengaged in an audio loop. The audio mute can be applied to specific loops, such that the signal mutes only when those loops are being switched. The audio mute is applied to all loops in the factory default settings. To edit your muted loops, simply hold down Switch D before powering up your ML5. Once the Learn button is lit, release the switch, and the Learn button will blink continuously. Also, loops that have are programmed to be muted will engage (blue LEDs will be lit). From here, simply select the loops you want muted, and then press the Learn button to save the settings.
