For some reason, the MC6 doesn't communicate with the Zoia. It looks like this is a known issue, as Empress offers a fix that requires replacing a chip on the motherboard:

That took a bit of digging to find, and is one of the only things I could find online about this issue... but I have no idea what the actual issue is. I plugged the MC6 into a PC with MidiOx and all of the commands were being sent well. I plugged other gear into the Zoia and it responded. I looped the MC6 through MidiOx and echoed the output to the Zoia and everything worked as it should.
I even set up an old 2-in, 8-out midi merger/filter between the MC6 and the Zoia, and everything worked perfectly. It looks like the only thing that doesn't work is connecting the MC6's output directly to the Zoia's input.
I'm baffled... but I don't want to take a soldering iron to a pretty expensive Empress effect. Does anyone know what causes this and if there might be a workaround?
Through the page you will learn about the technical details that are in concordance with reviews. Hence, you have to deal with oxbridgeessays review that are more common and provide all the useful data for work.
That worked out fine for me too. Nice. But now this: i want to send MIDI notes into the Zoia so i have to activate the MIDI thru function which works just fine. But everytime i rock the expression pedal the sequence stops for a short amount of time. can the MC6 merge incoming MIDI signals or do i really need a MIDI merger for this kind of problem?
I have-- while the mini Midi In/Midi Out on the Zoia aren't going to work without a hardware mod, the 1/4" TRS control port on the Zoia can be assigned as a MIDI port, which doesn't suffer the same issue. I used a headphone adapter to connect Zoia's mini trs MIDI cable to the 1/4" port.
The only real adapting I had to do was connect my expression pedal to the MC6 and send the expression as a Midi CC... but this is actually really useful, because Zoia's expression pedal doesn't allow for calibration and the MC6s both calibrates and has a much smoother sweep.
I have the same issue and i also don't want to mess up my Zoia wit a soldering iron... have you found another solution? or are you just using the midi merger / splitter ? which one is it?
