Yes, I can, and I do that. But it still wastes a button per bank, considering the way in which I use the MC 6. I could use that button for another purpose in almost every song.
Wow, thanks for the detailed reply! I do use it in a similar fashion (one bank per song) controlling sequencers/drum machines instead of guitar presets though (no, no, I'm a guitar player - don't ask).
So I gotta look into this librarian then. I find the editor somewhat buggy anyway - I frequently have to take the MC6 offline and power cycle to make it behave properly. Mostly where midi clock is involved.
In your case, as a workaround, couldn't you program the first preset of the song to send all the messages required?
There are two separate programs for editing the MC6 II. The Editor and the Librarian. Why there are two, I don't know; it's probably just an historical anomaly of how they were developed. But, you can copy entire banks in the Librarian quite easily.
In my opinion, these devices would be better served and understood by those likely to buy them if the two programs were integrated into one, and if that one program made it easy to reorder banks. I generally use one "bank" per song, with each "preset" making something happen within that song (changing snapshots on my HX Stomp pedal, turning effects on or off, etc.). So, I had to get used to the language of the MC 6, because its "bank" is what I'd call a "preset", each "preset" representing a song. That's why an easy way to rearrange "banks" is critical - each list of banks represents a set list, and set lists need to be reordered frequently and easily.
The one other feature missing from the MC 6 II for my needs is what on the Line 6 Helix is called an "Instant". This is a MIDI command that runs automatically upon entering a preset. So, if a song is called up by a preset, a list of commands runs to initialize effects, lights, etc. for that song. The Helix allows up to six Instants per preset, which is enough for me. Since I think of an MC 6 "bank" as a "preset", I'd like to see it possible to set up six "Instants" for each bank, so that some commands run automatically each time that bank is entered. As it is right now, I have to waste one button per song just to call up the right preset on my Stomp pedal; and I have to remember on the fly to hit that button after I already called up the bank for that song on the MC 6. It's a minor annoyance, but it could happen so much easier if MorningstarFX takes comments such as these seriously. Guitarists, and probably many MIDI users, often think of a "preset" as meaning a set of commands for one song. And being able to initialize that song with one button is beyond helpful - it's critical.

Currently not available within the editor but you can do it on the device itself in the bank edit menu
