Hi Everyone,
my name is Stefan and I am from Germany.
I started a few weeks ago with midi controlling my Pedalboard.
Because I already knew DisasterAreaDesigns I purchased a DMC-6 Gen3.
With the DMC-6 I am limited to 6 devices, but have already seven midi compatible pedals on my board.
So I was looking around and came aware of the MorningstarFX MC6 which can handle up to eight devices an looks pretty cool too. I read only good things about this MC6 and ordered one during the nice Black-Friday sale.
But because I have to call me still a midi novice I have some (or a lot) questions.
First question is about organisation of presets of the devices and of the "songs".
For information I will try to explain shortly what I am looking for:
The Disaster DMC-6 has the option to toggle between "Preset-Mode" and "Device-Mode".
In "Device-Mode" I can choose the presets of the devices.
Here comes an example:
I have called my ChaseBliss Brothers as "Device A". If I toggle my DMC-6 to "Device-Mode" and choose "Device A", I than go up and down in the presets of the Brothers. If I go to "Device B" I can go up and down on that device and so on for six devices.
So I can choose one preset from every device and than save this as combination of device presets to a preset of the DMC-6 itself.
When I now toggle the DMC-6 to "Preset-Mode" I can choose all the devices presets by one step. This gives me the possibilty to save 4 presets per bank, which I can easily take as "Intro, Verse, Chorus and Bridge" and use one bank per song.
For the MorningstarFX MC6 I could not find an equivalent function yet.
Do not get me wrong, I like the MC6 a lot. It looks absolutely fantastic and I think it has a full programmable functionality. But because of my very low knowledge about Midi I am not sure how to set my devices and my presets.
My hope is to have a bank per song, with presets for the different parts of the song, which works very well with the DMC-6 (but with 6 devices).
If this is not working for the MC6, how are you all organising your pedalboards and presets. Is there a different good way?
I hope this were not to much words...
Thanks for all help.
Stefan
